Everyone’s busy. The work still takes longer than it should.

Requests arrive half-formed. The same three people are in every conversation. Work waits on one person who’s across that system, and nobody’s quite sure where it sits between the handoffs.

None of that shows up on an org chart. It’s in how the work moves, and that’s harder to see and slower to change.

    What this is

We build the operating model and the capability to run it — how work flows, who’s accountable for what, what skills you need, and the working habits that keep it going once the attention moves on.

This is the work beneath the org chart. The actual mechanics of how your team delivers, designed with the people who have to live in it.

    How it works

We start by following the work rather than the structure: how a request arrives, who touches it, where it waits, and what happens when the one person who knows that system is on leave. Most organisations discover the real constraint isn’t capacity — it’s a handful of dependencies nobody had mapped.

Then we design the model with your leaders and their teams: accountabilities, how work moves between groups, and the rhythms that hold it together — planning, retrospectives, and some form of showing the work to each other.

Alongside that we build the skills. That means an honest picture of what your people can do now, what the new model asks of them, and a plan to close the gap through cross-skilling and training where we can, and honest conversations where we can’t.

    What you get
    • A map of how work actually moves today, and where it stalls

    • An operating model with clear accountabilities, designed with the people in it

    • A skills picture: what you have, what the model needs, and what to build rather than buy

    • Fewer single points of failure, through deliberate cross-skilling

    • Working rhythms your teams run without us

    • A way to tell whether it’s working, measured on delivery and on how the team is going

    Who this is for

Teams that are delivering but where too much depends on too few people.

Organisations that have merged functions, or are about to.

Leaders who’ve inherited something that works because of individual effort rather than how it’s set up.

Teams that want to improve how work gets delivered without changing structure or roles.

Teams can come out of this stronger than they went in. In the two rebuilds where overall employee engagement was formally measured, it rose during the restructure — 62% to 76%, and 67% to 72%. In one team, it reached 91% once the changes had bedded in.

    Typical engagement

three to six months, working alongside your leaders. Design by one senior person, implemented by your people, with our support.
